Cinesthesia: ALICE IN WONDERLAND & OTHER SHORTS

Hello, fantastic fanatics of film!

We are pleased to announce the second event of a new series of live score screenings and cross-arts productions from Cinesthesia, presenting ALICE IN WONDERLAND and other Avant-Garde short silent films, performed by artist Antwerp.

After last month's sell out launch event, screening 'A Trip To The Moon', we're excited to invite you to continue on the journey and take a tumble down the rabbit hole - celebrating 150 YEARS of Alice in Wonderland!

CINESTHESIA: ALICE IN WONDERLAND [1903] & OTHER SHORTS
LIVE SCORE PERFORMED BY ANTWERP
16th March, Hackney Picturehouse (Attic), 7.30PM

For this one-off special screening, Antwerp will revisit the films, creating new experimental live scores using elements of 'electroencephalography'; a hardware technique long-used to study epilepsy and sleep disorders.  Improvising and collaborating with other musicians, Antwerp will pull the audience on a sonic journey Alice's state of mind.

The Films:
- ALICE IN WONDERLAND - 1903 - 9 mins
The first-ever film version of Lewis Carroll's tale has recently been restored by the BFI National Archive from severely damaged materials. Made just 37 years after Lewis Carroll wrote his novel and nine years after the birth of cinema, the adaptation was directed by Cecil Hepworth and Percy Stow, and was based on Sir John Tenniel's original illustrations. With a running time of just 12 minutes (9 of which survive), Alice in Wonderland was the longest film produced in England at that time.

- THE LOVE OF ZERO - 1927 - 15 mins
- GHOSTS BEFORE BREAKFAST - 1928 - 9 mins
- REBUS-FILM N. 1 - 1925 - 7 mins

The Music:
Score created by Antwerp, with:
Pete Scott (Cello)
Project Mycelium (Electric Guitars)
Gary Bridgewood (Fiddle)
