Chrisp Street Festival
Sunday 8th September will see Chrisp Street Market and Langdon Park, in Poplar, transformed into a hive of activity when the colourful one-day festival rolls into town.
Local community members of all ages will come together for a day of live- music, international food and drink, craft classes, vintage car display, Lindy Hop lessons and various traditional fairground activities.
One of the highlights of the first annual community festival has to be the impressive music line up that has been organised including resident DJ for the event, Hackney Globe Trotter (90's club legend) and Trio Manouche - gypsy swing kings seen at venues like Ronnie Scotts and Secret Garden Party, plus many, many more.
If this wasn't enough to wet the appetite, there will also be vintage make up, poetry, mask making and a pop-up cinema to entertain, with the added bonus of 10 stalls from young entrepreneurs involved in the 'Somewhere to re-store' campaign, which sees young people take over spaces across the UK over the summer period.
Doors open at 11:00, so come down and enjoy some good old fashioned (free) family fun. For more news and updates follow Chrisp Street Festival on Twitter @Chrisp_Street.
And remember Chrisp Street Market is available as a diverse film/photography location - originally designed by Fredderick Gibberd and built as part of the festival of Britain in 1951, it was the first purpose built shopping area in the country. Open daily from 10am to 4pm except Sundays. Get in touch with the team at Film Office for more information.
