Brilliantly Busy Borough!!
By Gosh, Tower Hamlets has been rather active recently. Our glorious borough has been awash with TV Drama's and still shoots galore, occupying everywhere from Columbia Road and Arnold Circus areas to the ever-popular Brick Lane.
Here at Film Office we generally don't like to name-drop (OK - that's a lie - we do) so here is a run down of the various productions that have been shooting in and around our streets during the last few weeks.
The BBC has been filming the latest series of both Silent Witness (Robin Hood Estate in Poplar) and Call The Midwife (Ezra Street). Based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth and set in East London in the 1950's, the production behind Call The Midwife worked their magic on Ezra Street, taking it back in time with period dressing, props and cars; the shoot ran very smoothly with locals straining to get a view of the always lovely Miranda Heart.
Just around the corner on Ezra Street, also dressed to period perfection, ITV's Bletchley Circle, a mini series about four women who used to work as code breakers at Bletchley Park, spent the day filming scenes for the second series.
We have also continued to enjoy the presence of ITV's Mr Selfridge in Tower Hamlets, facilitating their latest shoot on the streets surrounding Arnold Circus.
Last but by no means least, Petticoat lane market was the epicenter of excitement last week as Hollywood A-lister, Kevin Bacon, made an appearance to film scenes for the new EE Telecommunications commercial.
All very exciting stuff with lots more still to come. Keep up to date with the latest goings on from Film Office and what's new in the borough, via our social media pages.
