The 48hour Film Challenge Starts 6th April 2013!
Do you have what it takes to make a film in 2 days?
Over the last four years the SCI-FI-LONDON Film Festival has run this exciting project and received over 380 completed films, many of which have gone to other film festivals and been broadcast on TV.
The challenge takes place a few weeks before the SCI-FI-LONDON Film Festival (30th April - 6th May) so all entries can be judged and the winning films screened at the festival itself. Judges include legendary director and producer Guillermo Del Torro (Pans Labyrinth) and actor Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes).
So what exactly does it entail?!
You will need to get a crew together, scout some locations, prep your cast and be ready to make a 5 minute short filmin just 48 hours.
Your team will be asked to come to the BFI Southbank on Saturday 6 April at 10.00am where you will be given the title of the film you will make, some dialogue that one of your characters must say to screen, and a list ofprops that must be seen in the film. We also give you an optionalscientifictheme... this could be nano-tech, cloning, gene-splicing...or something a little more "fringe".
So Why Enter?
In 2008, Gareth Edwards took part and won the competition.
Gareth's debut feature is the multiple award-winning MONSTERS - and the project was green-lit because Vertigo Films saw his winning 48hour short-film right here! So impressed were they with what he could do with no budget in just 2 days that they decided to develop a feature with him.
Last year's prize was a feature film development deal from Vertigo Films and an equally cool prize is being lined up for this year, with finished films being shown on the great new YouTube channel, THE MULTIVERSE.
For all budding film enthusiasts, this is a fantastic challenge that will really get the creative juices flowing and could leads to big things in the industry for the winner.
GOOD LUCK AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!
